MANKATO, Minn.- The UNO swimming and diving team defeated the Mavericks of Minnesota State with 11 first place finishes for a final score of 152-142 Friday evening in the Highland Pool on the campus of Minnesota State University. Sophomores #Amy Bechdolt#, #Colleen Klaiber and junior Cait Hopkins# each picked up two individual first place finishes.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Hopkins, Klaiber, freshman #Cami Hansberry and junior Laura Kemp# kicked off the night with a victory at a time of 1:51.08 for 11 points. UNO would then follow with a second win by Bechdolt in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:40.10 and nine points.
Hopkins picked up her second victory and first individual win in the 200 yard freestyle for nine points at 1:55.43. Klaiber earned her first individual win in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.75 and nine points of her own.
Freshman #Chelsea Hartman# swam to her own first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.29.
Minnesota State swimmer Angela Krych picked up two top finishes in the 100 yard backstroke and 50 yard backstroke.
The Mavericks will continue their travels Saturday to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on the Panthers of Northern Iowa. Swimming is set to start at 2 p.m. in the Glen F. Henry Swimming and Diving Pool.
