OMAHA, Neb. - Four Mavs reached double figures in digs and three topped 10 kills as they defeated sixth-ranked Washburn in five sets, 28-26, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-12, Wednesday evening in a packed Sapp Fieldhouse.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 14-3 and 4-0 in the MIAA and handed the Lady Blues their first loss of the year. They dropped to 13-1 and 3-1 in the league.
The 18th-ranked Mavericks will continue action Friday at 7 p.m. at Fort Hays State.

Angie Reicks had 30 digs and Sara Kampschnieder had 12 with 10 kills for a double-double. Ellen Thommes led the offense with 19 kills and a .450 attack percentage and Kelli Goeser# had 16 kills.
There were 18 ties in the first set, including six after WU led, 21-20. The Lady Blues had set point twice before UNO scored three straight to take the opener, 28-26.
WU opened set two on a 5-0 start and the Mavs never got within three, tying the match at 1-1.
UNO opened quickly in the third set, leading 9-3 before holding off the Lady Blues. In the fourth there were nine ties before Washburn broke a 14-14 tie and held on to win.
Washburn led early in the deciding set but after a 9-9 tie the Mavericks gained control and held on. They went up, 13-10 and then Goeser's kill forced match point. UNO clinched the match two points later on a WU service error.
The Mavs hit .222 as a team while UNO had a .209 attack. UNO blocked 12 shots with Thommes leading with six.
Hillary Hughes led the Lady Blues with 14 kills and she had 24 digs.
