Mavericks Face Three New Opponents Among Tourney Field
Among UNO's four opponents in the Showcase, the Mavs have never faced Tarleton State, Abilene Christian or Dallas Baptist. They have played North Alabama twice with each team winning once.

Tarleton State went 22-10 last year and finished second in the Lone State Conference with a 10-3 record. ACU was 26-9 and tied for third in the LSC at 9-4 while Dallas Baptist went 24-18 and was fourth in the Heartland at 9-7. UNA finished the year 24-11 and second in the Gulf South Conference East at 10-2.

The three MIAA teams in the field, UNO, Emporia State and Truman all played in the NCAA tournament last year and ESU will enter the year ranked third and Truman ninth in the AVCA preseason poll.

Mavericks Fall to Alumni to Wrap Up Exhibition Season
The Mavericks wrapped up their exhibition season with a scrimmage against the UNO Alumni Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Alumni defeated UNO, 13-25, 25-23, 25-22, 27-25.

UNO head coach Rose Shires will start her 20th season at UNO with a 387-215 record with the Mavericks. She needs just 13 more to give her 400. Shires is first at UNO in terms of total wins and second with a .643 winning percentage.

Shires has coached UNO to a national championship in 1996 and she boasts three conference championships and 10 trips to the NCAA tournament since taking over the program in 1990.
