OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO swimming and diving team took home third place in the Northern Sun Championship which it hosted at HPER pool this week. The Maverick had two more swimmers and a relay team qualify for the national championship meet in the final night of the four-day event.
The Mavericks finished with 878 points. St. Cloud State won the meet with a team score of 1,032. Minnesota State Mankota finished in second at 931. South Dakota was in fourth at 863. Minnesota State Moorhead (808) and Northern State (234) rounded out the women's field.
St. Cloud State also won the men's title with 734 points, just eight ahead of Minnesota State Mankato. South Dakota (609) finished in third in the three-team meet.

Lindsey Kline# began the meet with a qualifying time in the 1,650 freestyle. She finished first at 17:28.05.
In the 100 freestyle, UNO's #
Cait Hopkins# also qualified for the nationals with a time of 51.94, good for third place in the event.
UNO's 400 yard freestyle relay team of #

Lisa Elworth#, #
Katey Howarter# and Hopkins qualified with a time of 3:31.02. That time put them second in the event.

Jessica LaFave# also swam a secondary qualifying time of 2:07.82 in the 200 yard butterfly. That time was good for first place.

The Mavericks will now ready for the Division II National Championship meet to be held in Houston, Texas during the second week in March.
