WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Mavericks dropped their first game of the year as they lost, 57-45 against Minnesota Duluth in the first day of the Central Missouri Jennies Classic.

Alyssa Green made 7-of-9 free throws to lead UNO with 11 points but the Mavs shot just 24 percent in the game. Heather Pohl and Jessica Zaruba had seven points each.

The Mavericks scored the first points of the game off a lay-up by Green but they never led again. The Bulldogs led by 10 at the 5:31 mark of the first half and they led by 11, 32-21 at halftime.

UMD led by double digits in most of the second half but a basket by Ashley Nelson at the five-minute mark cut the lead to seven. The Bulldogs quickly cut it back to double digits and held off UNO on after that.

Green also led UNO with three assists and five steals.

The Mavericks (1-1) will continue action at UCM Saturday at 12 p.m. against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
