Kelli Goeser# earned her 1,000th career kill Saturday but the Mavericks fell in three sets to No. 9 Emporia State, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24 at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Goeser ended with nine kills in the match and now 1,003 in her career. She became the 18th member of the 1,000 kill club and the second Maverick this year to join the elite group after #
Ellen Thommes# did so earlier in the season.
The Mavericks (19-10, 9-7 MIAA) will continue action at home Wednesday when they host Northwest Missouri State Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Sara Kampschnieder led UNO with 10 kills and she added 10 digs for a double-double. Angie Reicks# led the back row with 18 digs.

Emily Myers# had 33 assists and Thommes led UNO above the net with four blocks.
The Hornets (26-3, 13-2 MIAA) built a nine-point lead in the first set off a 9-2 run that made the score 19-12. UNO never got within six after that and the Hornets opened the match with a win.
The Mavericks led, 10-7 in the second set and held an advantage until UNO tied it at 18-18 on a UNO error. That comeback was part of a 4-0 run that gave the Hornets a 20-18 lead. They then closed the set on a 5-1 run.
The Mavericks trailed the entire third set until they tied it at 24-24 off a 3-0 run. Thommes got the tying kill but ESU's Brittany Miller got two straight kills to clinch the match.
Miller had 22 kills for ESU and hit .588 in the match with just two errors.
