LINCOLN, NEB.- The UNO swimming and diving team lost its first dual of the season against Nebraska on Saturday afternoon in Lincoln at the Devaney Natatorium. The Huskers finished with a team score of 188.5 while UNO finished at 107.5.
Nebraska claimed the first seven events while UNO picked up two first-place finishes. Junior #Cait Hopkins# swam to a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.94.
Junior #Laura Kemp# added her own points when she finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.99). Later, Kemp had a solid performance, earning first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.24. The Mavs had the top five finishes with #Lucy Zamecnik taking second and Chelsea Hartman# finishing third.
Hartman, a freshman, lead the Mavs in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing second in her first college dual with a time of 2:34.04.
The team of #Lisa Elworth#, #Anna Haxby#, #Alicia Goetz# and Hopkins won the final event of the meet, the 200 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:40.91.
UNO will return to the pool on Halloween when they travel to Lawrence, Kan. to take on the Jayhawks of Kansas. The dual is set to start at noon.
