Goeser Nears Admission to 1,000 Kill Club
Senior outside hitter Kelli Goeser is 61 kills away from 1,000 in her career at UNO. The four-year player has 939 kills and is currently 23rd in UNO history.

Goeser is second on the team with 2.93 kills and 3.20 points a set. She has 13 double-figure kills matches.

Goeser would become the second Maverick to reach 1,000 kills this year at UNO and the 18th in school history. Ellen Thommes reached the milestone on September 11 against Drury.

Thommes Continues Dominance On Team And In MIAA
Senior middle blocker Ellen Thommes was first on the team and the MIAA coming into the week with a .431 attack percentage. She's sixth in the league and first on the team with 3.35 kills a set and she's first on the team and third in the league with 1.07 blocks a set.

Thommes has reached double figures in kills in 18 of the 23 matches and she's hit .400 or better 15 times. She has had five or more blocks seven times with a school-record tying 14 blocks on September 9 at Nebraska-Kearney.

Thommes is on pace to set the school record for highest single-season attack percentage. Denise Otten currently holds the record with a .421 percentage in 1995. Thommes' .347 career attack percentage is second and just two points away from Lori Schutte's career-best .349 percentage.
Thommes became the 17th member of UNO's 1,000 kill club earlier this year and with 295 this season, she has 1,182 in her four years to rank 13th in UNO history. She needs 73 more to move into the top 10.

Ebke First In The MIAA In Aces
Freshman defensive specialist Natalie Ebke is first in the MIAA with .56 aces per set. Ebke has a total of 49 aces with a serve percentage of .889 for this season. Ebke holds UNO's top four single-match marks for assists this year, getting five or more four times.

Mavericks Remain 16th In National Poll
The Mavericks remained No. 16 in the AVCA national ranking released Monday. UNO is one of five MIAA teams in the top 25 and overall, six of UNO's 2009 opponents are in the ranking.

The Mavericks were unrated in the preseason and after week one. Their highest ranking this year was 15th on September 28 and October 5.

The Mavericks are 3-5 this year against ranked teams with two of their wins coming against teams that were ranked sixth at the time. Grand Valley State was No. 6 when it fell to UNO on September 5 and Washburn was also No. 6 on September 23 when UNO won.

Mavs Nearly Unbeatable When Winning First Set
Nebraska-Omaha is 16-1 this year when winning the first set of the match. Conversely, the Mavericks are 1-5 when dropping the opening set.

Their only loss when starting with a win came on September 9 in a five-set loss at No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney. Their only win after losing set one came on September 18 in a five-set battle with No. 22 Pittsburg State.

Home Winning Streak Comes To An End
The Mavericks started the year 12-0 at home before falling in Sapp Fieldhouse for the first time October 10 against then-No. 21 Truman, 3-2. UNO is hitting .274 as a team at home while holding opponents to a .150 hitting percentage. Eight of their wins have been 3-0 sweeps.

Ellen Thommes is leading the Mavs at home with a .449 hitting percentage and 4.18 points a set off 3.38 kills and 0.89 blocks a set.
