Kayla Uhing# pounded 12 kills and hit .308 to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team over Fort Hays State 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-23) in MIAA volleyball action Friday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Mavericks improved to 7-8 overall on the season and 3-2 in the MIAA. Fort Hays State fell to 6-6 and 1-3.

Ellen Thommes# added nine kills on .333 hitting, along with five digs, and a match-high five blocks. Junior outside hitter #
Sara Kampschnieder# notched eight kills and seven digs in the win.

Kayla Jansen and freshman Angie Reicks# combined for 26 digs to lead the Maverick defensive effort as UNO held a commanding 58 to 40 advantage in digs.
Uhing hit .625 with six kills in the first game as UNO hit a blistering .400 as a team.
The Mavericks cooled off in the second frame, hitting just .118, but were aided by 12 FHSU attack errors as the Tigers hit -.220 .
The Mavericks held a 9-3 edge in total team blocks while holding the Tigers to a negative hitting percentage in each of the first two games and to a -.025 attack percentage for the match.
The Mavericks return to action Saturday afternoon when they entertain 12th-ranked Emporia State beginning at 4 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
