Sophomore guard Alyssa Green scored eight of her game-high 17 points in less than three minutes to help the University of Nebraska at Omaha pull away from Minnesota Duluth in the final minutes for a 65-57 North Central Conference victory Thursday night at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse.

The Mavericks improved to 17-10 overall and 3-8 in the NCC, while UMD fell to 4-21 and 1-10.

UNO, which led by 35-29 at the break, gradually built the lead to as many as 11 points the second half before the Bulldogs climbed back. UMD erased a 50-41 UNO lead with 9:08 to play, scoring nine straight points, tying the contest with 5:38 left.

Green started UNO's winning rally a minute later with a short jumper in the lane. She added two more field goals and a pair of free throws in a 13-2 run that also included a layup by LaToya Wright and a three-pointer by Amanda Brodsack. Green capped the run with 1:42 left with a layup, putting UNO in command, 63-52.

After Green's 17, Brodsack scored 15 points and Wright 13 to go with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Minnesota Duluth jumped out front quickly in the game, scoring the first six points and forging a 9-2 lead three minutes into play. But Brodsack responded with a pair of three-pointers to start UNO off on a 17-0 run and a 19-9 lead with 10:56 left in the half.

The Mavericks led by as many as 14 and held a 35-22 lead with less than two minutes left the first half when UMD scored the final seven points of the half to slice the margin to 35-29.

Katy Freeman led the Bulldogs with 15 points, Alissa Pauly added 13 and Kelsey Hewitt 12. Freeman is the daughter of former UNO player Todd Freeman, who played at the school from 1977-81.

UNO returns to action Saturday, hosting Minnesota State, Mankato at 2 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse in its final home game.
