OMAHA, Neb. -- Despite a career-high 25 kills from junior #
Ellen Thommes#, 10th-ranked Truman State was able to pull out a 3-2 (20-25, 25-21, 25-14, 24-26, 15-12) win over the University of Nebraska at Omaha in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association volleyball action Saturday night in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
With the loss, the Mavericks fell to 16-14 overall on the season and 12-7 in the MIAA. Truman improved to 27-7 and 14-4 in league play.
Thommes hit .404 in the match while adding four blocks. Thommes' kill total was the most by a Maverick this season and the most the Bulldogs have given up in a match in 2008.
Junior #
Sara Kampschnieder# was the only other Maverick in double figures in kills with 11. She added 18 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.
Freshman #
Lizzy Mach and junior Kelli Goeser# collected nine kills apiece.
Freshman setter #
Emily Myers# notched her team-leading 11th double-double of the season with 52 assists and 11 digs while directing the UNO offense to a .181 hitting percentage.
Junior #
Kayla Jansen# anchored the Maverick defense with a match-high 25 digs.
The Bulldogs had four players in double figures in kills and hit .253 as a team. Eli Medina and Lauren Graybeal each had 12 kills to lead the TSU offense.
Nebraska-Omaha will close out the regular season next Friday, Nov. 14, when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on 14th-ranked Central Missouri at 7 p.m.
