KEARNEY, Neb. - The UNO swim team has proven it is hard to beat over the short haul. Solid performances throughout the sprints led the Mavericks to a 163-120 win over the University of Nebraska-Kearney at Cushing Pool on Friday night.

UNO gained a stranglehold on the scoring by earning first place in seven of the next nine events. Freshman #
Amy Bechdolt# took the top spot in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.54, a full 7 seconds better than UNK's Mandi Sheerer who finished in second.

Jessica LaFave# led a 1-2-3 UNO sweep in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 29.57. Freshman #
Ariel Lahowetz was second and senior Katie Hubbell# was third.
Zamecnik led the way in the 50 yard breast stroke with a time of 33.99. Hopkins and senior #
Lindsey Kline# were 1-2 in the 100 yard butterfly. UNO freshman #
Alyson Hartwig# took fourth.
The Mavs again went 1-2-3 in the 100 yard freestyle
Katie Hubbell won with a time of 57.63, just out-touching teammate #
Tessa Edwards#. The junior was second at 58.09. Freshman #

With the win, the Mavericks have now won both meetings with UNK this season. They improve to 3-1 on the year. There will be little rest however. UNO returns to the pool on Saturday afternoon when they visit MIAA neighbor Truman State at 2 p.m.
