No. 8 Hornets Sting Mavs, Snap Winning Streak

EMPORIA, Kan. --  Eighth-ranked Emporia State University snapped the University of Nebraska at Omaha's four-match winning streak with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-17) sweep Saturday night in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association volleyball action at White Auditorium.

The loss dropped UNO to 13-13 overall and 9-6 in the MIAA. The league-leading Hornets maintained their two-match lead in the conference standings, improving to 28-2 overall and 14-1 in league play. 

The lone Maverick to record double-figures in kills was junior #Ellen Thommes# with 10 put-aways on .333 hitting. Thommes was the only UNO player to hit above .150 in the match as the Mavs were plagued by 23 attack errors, hitting at just a .052 clip.

Junior #Kayla Jansen# led UNO defensively with a match-high 17 digs.

Emporia State hit .226 in the match and out-blocked UNO 7 to 3.

UNO will travel to Hays, Kan. on Sunday, Nov. 2, for a 3 p.m. match at Fort Hays State.
