OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior outside hitter #Sara Kampschnieder# recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 13 digs to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) victory over Northwest Missouri State in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association volleyball action Wednesday night in the Sapp Fieldhouse.

With the win, UNO improved to 8-9 on the season and 4-3 in the MIAA. The Bearcats fell to 5-13 and 3-4.

Freshman setter #Emily Myers# also notched her fifth double-double with 38 assists and 12 digs while directing the UNO offense to a .270 hitting percentage in the match.

Junior middle blocker #Ellen Thommes# hit .529  with 10 kills, one error, in 17 attempts. It marked the fifth time this season that Thommes has hit .500 or above in a match.

Junior #Kayla Jansen and freshman Angie Reicks# combined for 29 digs to lead the Maverick defense as UNO held a commanding 67 to 52 advantage in digs.

Led by senior #Annie Rice#'s four consecutive service aces, UNO broke open a tight first set.  With the score tied at 10, Rice reeled off three-straight aces to force an NWMSU timeout. She then tallied another ace to give UNO a 14-10 advantage. Three kills by Kampschnieder sparked a 6-4 Maverick run, giving UNO a 20-14 lead. The Bearcats fought back to within two at 21-19, forcing UNO to call their own timeout. However, a kill by sophomore #Kayla Uhing# and a kill and block by Thommes, gave UNO the win in set one, 25-19.

Kampschnieder had five kills and Thommes hit .667 with four kills to pace the UNO attack in the second set.  Jansen's 10 digs in the second frame helped limit the Bearcats to just six kills and a .086 hitting percentage. In contrast, the Mavericks registered 21 kills in the second set and hit .250 as a team in garnering the 25-20 victory.

Freshman #Lizzy Mach# hit .600 with three kills and Kampschnieder blasted another six to lead the UNO charge in the third stanza. Reicks tallied 10 of her 14 digs in the third set. With the score knotted at 10, the Mavericks went on a 14-4 run to take a 24-14 advantage. NWMSU saved four match points on kills by Sara Falcone, Alex Hanna, and Rachel Nisi combined with a UNO ball-handling error before Mach's tool off the block on the slide attack ended the match, 25-18.

The Mavericks will resume conference action this weekend when they travel to St. Joseph, Mo. on Friday, Oct. 10 for a 7 p.m. match at Missouri Western. UNO will then head to Kirksville, Mo. on Saturday for a 6 p.m. match at 12th-ranked Truman State.
