AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State University women's swimming and diving team won eight of 11 events en route to a 124-72 victory over the University of Nebraska at Omaha in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Beyer Hall.

With the loss, the Mavericks fell to 1-1 on the season. It was the first competition of the year for the Cyclones.

Senior Lindsey Kline captured the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.89. Sophomore Laura Kemp finished second in the same event at 5:18.82

The 400-yard medley relay team of Kristy Gmeiner, Carrie Murphy, Jessica LaFave, and Cait Hopkins won the final event of the competition in 4:10.75.

Also capturing an event title was Jessica Connick, who claimed the 3-meter diving competition with 242.25 points.

The Mavericks will be idle until Nov. 1, when they host Division I Northern Iowa beginning at 2 p.m. at the HPER Swimming Pool.
