COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--The University of Nebraska at Omaha was among 287 college and high school volleyball teams named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association this week as recipients of the 2005-06 Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors college and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale during the school year.
Nebraska-Omaha, which was honored for the 10th time, maintained a 3.36 grade-point average in 2005-06. Thirty-one Division II schools were honored.
Recipients of the award range from NCAA Division I institutions to high school girls' and boys' teams. There were 150 women's volleyball programs honored from the NCAA and NAIA.
