2nd Team JC All-American Signs to Attend UNO

Lacey Geitzenauer, a second-team All-American from Iowa Lakes Community College, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha next fall, women's basketball coach Patty Patton Shearer said Wednesday.

Geitzenauer, a six-foot post player at Iowa Lakes, averaged 16.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season. The native of Lone Rock, Iowa, is the daughter of Tom and Tammy Geitzenauer. She was a twotime all-conference player at Sentral Community High School under Coach Dr. Merle Tigges. As a senior, she earned first-team all-district honors while scoring 20 points per game.

Geitzenauer plans to major in business at UNO and will be a junior in eligibility for the Mavericks next season.

"Lacey demonstrated the ability to score on the low post all year on a team that had great success and made it to the regional championship game," Patton Shearer said. "In addition to her ability on the court, Lacey is also a member of the Dean's list and is a superb student. We are very excited to have Lacey join our team."

The Mavericks, in their first season under Patton Shearer in 2004-05, were 14-14 and recorded one of the biggest turnarounds of the year in NCAA II, rebounding from a five-win season in 2003-04.
