Patty Patton Shearer officially took over as the sixth University of Nebraska at Omaha head women's basketball coach Monday. Patton Shearer was formally introduced at a press conference held in the atrium of the Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse.
Patton Shearer coached Fort Lewis College to a 23-8 record and into the NCAA II tournament last season. In four years at Fort Lewis the Tucson, Ariz., native guided the Skyhawks to a 60-49 record and three winning seasons.
A gathering of about 30 players, boosters and staff members joined the news media at Monday's event. Some of the comments:
