 Jaelyn Richard Harris joined the Omaha women's basketball team as assistant coach in August 2023.  Richard Harris comes to Omaha after one year as the assistant coach at Gulf Coast State College. 

“I am thrilled to welcome Jaelyn to the Omaha Women’s Basketball family," said Coach Banks. "She is a bright up and coming coach that has demonstrated an ability to positively impact a program and I am excited to have her on board.”

While at Gulf Coast State, Richard Harris coached the team to a 25-5 overall record and a #1 overall national ranking. While coaching the team beat six nationally ranked schools, and held a 16 game win streak. With the team's success, all five sophomores obtained D1 scholarship offers. 

In the summer of 2020, Richard Harris gained experience as a strength training intern in the athletic department of Louisiana State University. As an intern she provided student athletes with training requirements, monitored heart rates and rate of load and total exertion. Richard Harris was also in charge of maintaining a safe environment and kept equipment set up organized and clean.

"I am overwhelmed with excitement as I embark on this great opportunity," said Richard Harris. "I look forward to joining a coaching staff with such a competitive reputation in efforts to make a sizable impression this season."

Richard Harris earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in leadership from Louisiana State University. During her four years at LSU she played on LSU's women's basketball team and was a varsity letter recipient.
