Camila Carrera joined the Omaha softball coaching staff in the summer of 2017.
Carrera comes to Omaha from Alvin Community College (Texas) where she served as an assistant coach since 2015. As a part of the Dolphins coaching staff, her duties included assisting in practice and game day responsibilities, recruiting and academic success. She also coached for the Impact Gold Organization and played professionally for one season in Italy.
A utility player for UTEP from 2008-12, Carrera concluded her career with 14 school records. She is the Miners' career leader in games played (227), hits (260), batting average (.401), slugging percentage (.777), on-base percentage (.508), doubles (57), home runs (61) and RBI (197).
Carrera also earned numerous awards during her career at UTEP. She was a four-time Conference USA First Team honoree and named the 2012 conference player of the year. She became the first player in program history to earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America First Team accolades.
In addition to her on-field honors, Carrera was a four-time Conference USA Commissioners' Honor Roll selection.
Carrera graduated from UTEP with a degree in kinesiology-physical education with a minor in education in 2012.
