Allie Helton enters her second season as an assistant coach. She joined the staff in February 2022.
With her help, the Mavericks posted one of their best Division I seasons in the books. Omaha finished the year 32-14 overall. It was the most wins in a season since 2014 and just the third time the team eclipsed the 30-win mark in DI history. Omaha finished 17-4 in league play. The 17 wins was a DI record and the most league wins since 2011 when the Mavericks tallied 18.
Omaha made its second straight appearance in the Summit League Tournament and championship game. With the No. 2 seed, Omaha earned a first round bye and eventually took on the Jackrabbits for the title. The Mavericks forced a winner-take-all game after beating South Dakota State 3-0 in game one. The run came to an end with a 5-0 loss in game two.
Prior to her coaching career, Helton played two seasons with the Mavericks.
As a senior in 2021, Helped started in 47 games. She hit .237 on the year totaling 31 hits. She led the Mavericks with eight doubles and added one triple and two homers. Helton finished the season with 14 RBI and 18 runs. She recorded nine multi-hit games, including a season best performance vs. Northern Colorado going 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI, and two runs. Her homer vs. the Bear marked the first ever home run recorded at Connie Claussen Field.
In her junior season, Helton appeared in 21 games before the COVID-19 shut down. She hit .354 with two doubles, a home run, and five RBI. Helton ranked seventh in the Summit League with 13 runs scored.
Helton graduated from UNO in 2021 with a degree in multidisciplinary studies.
