Biography


2000-2001 (Sophomore):
Played in 32 games during his sophomore campaign...Suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Nov. 2 against Ohio State... After several weeks of rehabilitation, he went on to play 25 games with the injured knee before having surgery during the offseason...Recorded two power play goals on the season against Michigan State and Notre Dame...Had two two-game point streaks...Surpassed his goal total and shot total from his freshman season with four goals and 49 shots.


1999-2000 (Freshman):
Played in 33 games for the Mavs and finished sixth on the team in points with 3-15-18...Was one of the key members on the Maverick penalty unit...Had a season-high 1-2-3 in his second game as a Maverick on Oct. 28 against Ferris State...Finished in a tie for second on the team in plus/minus with +13...Had a three-game point streak from Dec. 8 to Dec. 19 where he recorded 1-2-3, including a power play goal...Scored his only power play goal of the year in a 3-1 victory over Bowling Green on Dec. 8...Had three multiple-point games on the season...His two assists against Ohio State in game three of the playoffs helped lift the Mavs to a 4-3 double overtime victory and a berth in the CCHA Final Four.

Junior Hockey:
Played for the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League from 1998-2000 and was team captain for both seasons...In 1999-2000, he led the team in points (24-19-43) and and also led the USHL in power play goals...Was the top scorer for the 1998-1999 team after recording 19-23-42 in 56 games...Played from 1996-98 for the Rochester Mustangs under current Maverick assistant Doc DelCastillo...He led all rookies in points in his first season with Rochester...Was named the team’s most valuable player in his second season after leading the Mustangs in scoring.

Born July 9, 1979 in Anchorage, AK, the son of Russ and Jill Turner...Graduated from Robert Service High School and helped lead the hockey team to the state championship as a senior...Nickname is “Ike”...Hobbies are watching movies and listening to music...Majoring in management information systems.

“Scotty showed tremendous grit and determination last season, playing more than half the year with a torn ACL. He contributed to our team in every possible facet of the game. Our expectation is that he will continue to be that type of "all around" player this season and help out in many different ways.”
