Sam Spomer became UNO's Director of Hockey Operations in July 2012.  Spomer’s responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison between coaches, student-athletes, boosters and the university community for all aspects of the UNO men’s hockey program.  In this role, Spomer acts as the primary administrator for monitoring student-athlete academic progress and NCAA eligibility, and overseeing recruiting and playing seasons.  Additionally, Spomer serves as a resource to all prospective student-athletes.  Spomer is also responsible for video coordination, office administration and budget development and management.      

Spomer first joined the UNO athletic staff in May 2011 where he served as the Compliance Intern.  As Compliance Intern, Spomer monitored recruiting, assisted in student-athlete eligibility and developed coaches education material,  In addition, Spomer was responsible for composing Initial Eligibility and Legislative Relief Waivers.  

Spomer is a 2009 graduate of Nebraska where he majored in Economics.  While at UNL, Spomer helped restart the men’s club hockey team after a ten-year absence and served as the club’s vice president in 2008.  Upon graduation from Nebraska, Spomer received his Juris Doctor from Creighton in 2012.
