Attended Lourdes Central Catholic but played baseball for Nebraska City High School's program...Lettered four years for Coach Tom Bales...First-team all-state selection as a senior...Two-time first-team all-conference pick...As a senior, led the state in the regular season with 85 strikeouts and went 3-4 on the mound with a 1.24 ERA...In his junior season, wetn 1-4 with a 2.34 ERA, finishing third in Class B for strikeouts...Helped Nebraska City to back-to-back state tournament appearances...Went 4-1 on the mound as a sophomore and posted a win at the state tournament...Also lettered three years in football and two years basketball...In football, led Class C-2 in passing yardage and earned all-state honorable mention and was a two-time first-team all-district honoree...Split time as a quarterback and linebacker...In basketball, named honorable mention all-conference...Earned academic honorable mention distinction.
