OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha Baseball returns home Wednesday night, April 22 for a midweek matchup against crosstown rival Creighton (21-16, 7-2 BIG EAST) at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT, with the game streaming on the Summit League Network.
The Mavericks enter the contest following a split in a Summit League doubleheader at North Dakota State on Sunday, claiming a 6-5 win in the opener before falling 6-1 in game two. Omaha has won four of five meetings with the Bison this season and moved to 13-18 overall and 8-6 in league play.
Prior to the weekend, Omaha turned heads with a 12-5 road win at K-State, marking its second victory over a Big 12 opponent this season. The Mavericks jumped out early and never trailed, outhitting the Wildcats 16-6 while scoring in each of the first four innings.
Offensively, Omaha has found a rhythm at the plate, posting multiple double-digit hit performances in recent games.
Nick Riggs highlighted the surge with a three-run home run at Kansas State and added another three-run shot in a win over Oral Roberts on April 12. Riggs ranks second on the team with four home runs this season, trailing
Cardel Dick's team-best five.
Cardel Dick has been a consistent presence in the lineup, reaching base nine times over the Mavericks' last three games. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, three runs scored and a walk at K-State, followed by a 1-for-4 effort with two RBIs and a walk in game one at North Dakota State. He closed the weekend with a 3-for-3 performance and a walk in the series finale. He also leads the Summit League in slugging percentage (.590) and OPS (1.017).
On the mound,
Maddox Meyer earned the win in Sunday's opener, while
Nate Moquin recorded his fifth save of the season. Moquin leads the Summit League in saves.
Creighton won the first two meetings between the teams this season, earning an 8-2 victory on March 18 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha and a 7-6 win on March 24. Omaha has had success in the rivalry in recent years, including an 11-5 home win in 2025, and will look to respond Wednesday night.
Following the midweek matchup, Omaha returns to Summit League play by hosting St. Thomas for a three-game series April 24-26 at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch for Friday's opener is set for 6 p.m. CT, with all games streaming on the Summit League Network.
