OMAHA, Neb. — Riding the momentum of a dramatic extra-inning victory, Omaha Baseball (11-17, 7-5 Summit) heads into a busy week beginning with a midweek road test at Kansas State (23-13, 7-8 Big 12). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT Tuesday, April 14, at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas, with the game streaming on ESPN+.
Following the midweek matchup, the Mavericks return to Summit League play at North Dakota State (5-22, 2-7 Summit) from April 17-19. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT, with all games streamed on the Summit League Network.
Omaha enters the week after salvaging the finale of a three-game series against Oral Roberts with an 8-7 walk-off win in 12 innings Sunday at Tal Anderson Field. The victory handed the Golden Eagles their first conference loss of the season and snapped their unbeaten Summit League start.
The finale featured four home runs, including two sets of back-to-back blasts.
Nick Riggs put Omaha on the board with a three-run homer in the fifth before
Tyler Bishop followed with his third home run of the season and 20th of his Maverick career.
Trailing by one in the 12th,
Cardel Dick launched his fourth home run of the season to tie the game at seven. One batter later,
Drew Borner delivered the game-winner with a walk-off homer to center field.
Offensively,
Jackson Trout continues to pace the Mavericks and the Summit League. The Nebraska native is hitting .377 with a team-best 43 hits and 12 doubles, while leading the league in batting average and slugging percentage (.553). He ranks second in the conference in hits and doubles.
Trout went 2 for 6 with an RBI in Sunday's win, while six other Mavericks recorded multi-hit performances, including
Chase Diggins (2 for 4), Bishop (2 for 5),
Hayden Lewis (2 for 5),
Mason Gaines (2 for 3) and
Cardel Dick (2 for 2).
On the mound,
Sam Beck, the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week on March 31, earned the start in the series finale. The right-hander worked six innings, striking out a season-high nine while exiting with a 5-3 lead.
