SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha Baseball swept the Summit League's Kwik Star weekly awards, the league announced Tuesday, as sophomore right-hander
Tanner Foertsch and junior outfielder and left-hander
Hayden Lewis each earned honors.
Foertsch was named the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week after delivering his best outing as a Maverick in game two of the March 14 doubleheader against North Dakota State at Tal Anderson Field.
The right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out a career-high nine Bison over 24 batters faced to earn the win.
Lewis earned Summit League Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week honors after leading Omaha at the plate during the sweep of NDSU.
Lewis totaled six RBI over the weekend, highlighted by a game-winning double in game one of the twin bill. He later drove in the decisive runs in the nightcap to secure the sweep.
Following a midweek matchup at Creighton on March 18, Omaha returns to Tal Anderson Field March 20-22 for a Summit League series against Northern Colorado. All three games will stream on the Summit League Network.
