Baseball heads down the road to face Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Baseball (7-10) travels across town to face Creighton (8-8) on Wednesday, March 18 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, before hosting Northern Colorado from March 20-22 at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will stream on ESPN+.

The Mavericks enter the matchup against the Bluejays following a series sweep of North Dakota State to open Summit League play. Omaha secured a 4-2 victory on Friday, March 13, at Tal Anderson Field before earning a 6-2 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader and completing the weekend with a 2-0 shutout in game two.

Following the sweep, Omaha sits tied for first in the Summit League standings with Oral Roberts.

Jackson Trout continues to pace the Mavericks offensively. Trout recorded his 10th double of the season on Saturday, March 14, the most by a Maverick through the program's first 16 games of a season and the most in the Summit League. He leads Omaha with a .424 batting average and 28 hits while ranking first in the conference in batting average, hits and doubles.

Tyler Bishop and Nate Moquin have also stood out on the league leaderboard. Bishop leads the Summit League with two triples, while Moquin paces the conference with four saves.

Hayden Lewis helped power Omaha to the sweep, driving in six runs over the weekend. Lewis delivered a game-winning double in game one of the March 14 doubleheader and later drove in the deciding runs in game two.

On the mound, right-hander Tanner Foertsch earned the win in game two of Saturday's doubleheader with his best outing as a Maverick. Foertsch tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out a career-high nine Bison over 24 batters faced.

Omaha returns to Tal Anderson Field March 20-22 for a Summit League series against Northern Colorado. All three games will stream on the Summit League Network.
