WICHITA, Kan. — Omaha Baseball (3-4) opened its four-game series against (RV) Wichita State (7-2) on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan., falling 3-2 in a tight contest against the Shockers.
After going down 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Omaha evened the score in the top of the fourth when senior
Tyler Bishop (Lincoln, Neb.) grounded out to second, driving in sophomore
Nick Riggs (Omaha, Neb.) with an unearned run to make it 1-1.
The Shockers answered in the bottom half of the inning on Owen Washburn's solo home run to regain a 2-1 lead.
The Mavericks pulled even again in the fifth as Riggs drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home sophomore
Mason Gaines (Lincoln, Neb.), tying the game at 2-2.
(RV) Wichita State added a run in the eighth on Max Kaufer's RBI double, scoring Washburn to put the Shockers ahead and secure the 3-2 victory.
The Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week and sophomore right-hander
Maddox Meyer tossed six innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Carter Mick (Lincoln, Neb.) added a scoreless frame in relief, and senior
Oliver Mabee (Victoria, Canada) took the loss after allowing one run in the eighth as Omaha combined for eight strikeouts.
