SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha Men's Basketball senior forward
Valentino Simon (Nassau, Bahamas) was named the Summit League's Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week, it was revealed Tuesday. This is Simon's first career nod.
Simon is now the third Maverick to earn the weekly honor, joining teammates
Lance Waddles (Dec. 23) and
Paul Djobet (Feb. 3).
Simon has made three straight starts for Omaha (14-14, 7-6 Summit) after primarily serving in a rotational role this season. Last week, Simon shot 66.7% from the field (10-15) and sank 12 of 16 free throw tries. The Nassau, Bahamas native scored a career-best 21 points in Omaha's win over St. Thomas. He totaled eight assists and 15 rebounds in just shy of 62 minutes of action over a 2-0 week for
Chris Crutchfield's squad.
