Men's Basketball heads to Tulsa, set for Saturday night showdown with ORU

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Basketball (8-11, 1-3 Summit) returns to action Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. CT when the Mavericks face Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Mabee Center. Last time out, Omaha's Tony Osburn hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 5.7 seconds left before North Dakota State's Damari Wheeler-Thomas drove the length of the floor and made a layup at the buzzer to give the Bison a 78-76 win at Baxter Arena last Saturday afternoon. Omaha trailed 76-73 when Osburn hit a leaning 3-pointer from the left wing. But after a timeout, Wheeler-Thomas was able to race down the right side of the court and got his layup to fall for the win.

Osburn finished with 16 points, while Paul Djobet led the Mavs with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Christian Richardson made a career high nine field goals as he was 9 of 10 from the field and added 21 points.

The Lille, France native and Miami (Fla.) transfer averages 19.5 points a game in the conference, shooting at a 51% clip in 31.8 minutes a night. Djobet had a tied his season high with 22 points in the Mavericks' home tilt with North Dakota State.

Since joining the DI ranks, Omaha is 7-16 against the Golden Eagles. The Mavericks have won three straight against ORU. The Mavericks are 1-4 in their last five meetings in Tulsa.

Oral Roberts enters Saturday's game 5-14 overall with a 0-4 mark in the Summit League. All but one of ORU's league contests this season have been decided by 11 points.
