OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Volleyball was swept at home by No. 17 Kansas to close out non-conference play Saturday at Baxter Arena.
The Mavericks (3-6) held the Jayhawks (8-4) close in all three sets played. KU won the first set 25-18, followed by the second, 25-19. Matt Buttermore's Mavericks managed to keep the margin in the single digits with a 25-16 loss in the final set.
The second set saw back-and-forth between the two teams with the score being tied three times and a pair of lead changes.
Freshman Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) led the match in kills with 11. Senior Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) was right behind her with eight.
Junior Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) recorded four assisted blocks. Venable and sophomore Ella Tiarks (Treynor, Iowa) had a pair each.
Omaha begins Summit League play on the road at South Dakota State on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. CT, followed by St. Thomas on Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon CT in St. Paul, Minn.
