GREELEY, Colo. - Omaha Baseball (14-23, 8-12 Summit League) took down Northern Colorado (15-25, 7-13 Summit League) 7-6 at Jackson Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks' win on Saturday gave them the season series over Northern Colorado, as it boasts a 4-1 record with one game remaining against the Bears.
Tanner Foertsch picked up his second win of the season after pitching three scoreless innings and only allowing two runs through five.
Jackson Trout got Omaha's scoring day started when he hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Drew Borner in the bottom of the third.
The Mavericks continued to stretch their lead in the third inning with a run scored on a groundout followed by two RBI singles.
The Bears brushed the zero off the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Craig Kenny singled to right field and knocked in one run. Northern Colorado added one more run in the fifth inning when it was a 4-2 game in favor of Omaha.
Tyler Bishop hit a two-run shot in the seventh inning, the only home run of the game that extended the Mavericks' lead to 6-2.
The Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth with two runners left on. Oliver Mabee got the save and recorded the final out to secure an Omaha victory.
Trout and Bishop led the Mavericks with two RBIs each.
Omaha plays in its series finale against Northern Colorado at Jackson Field on Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m. CT.
