TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts freshman Easton Teel scattered four hits over seven innings in his first career start, as Omaha fell 10-1 in the first of a three-game Summit League series at Chapman Park in Tulsa. The Mavericks (5-13, 0-4) look for their first conference win of the season against ORU (13-8, 2-2) Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. CT.
Innings 1-3
The Mavericks opened the scoring in the top of the first.
Henry Zipay drew a walk to lead off the game, and one out later
Tyler Bishop singled to left. After
Mason Gaines struck out,
Jackson Trout singled to right, scoring Zipay.
In the third, Zipay again reached to lead off the frame, singling to center. He stole second but was stranded in scoring position.
Junior righthander
Cameron Teinert faced the minimum through 2 1/3 innings before DH Owen Coil hit his first career home run for Oral Roberts to tie the game, 1-1.
Innings 4-6
The Golden Eagles took the lead in the fourth. After Cooper Combs singled with one out, Wailele Kane-Yates singled to center and the ball got under the glove of a charging centerfielder
Eli Hoerner. Combs scored and Kane-Yates advanced to third on the error. Jack Schark followed with an RBI double to give ORU a 3-1 lead after four.
ORU chased the Omaha starter in the fifth. Coil tripled to deep center to lead off the inning, and two pitches later Martell Davis drilled a two-run homer to left to give the Golden Eagles a 5-1 lead. With one out, Makani Tanaka tripled and Combs drew a walk. Reliever
Carter Mick entered the game and walked Kane-Yates to load the bases. He then walked Schark to bring in a run, and ORU led 6-1. Keaton Campbell's sacrifice fly to center brought home Combs, and the Golden Eagles led 7-1 after five innings.
Oral Roberts took advantage of another Mavericks miscue in the sixth. After a single and stolen base by Edmundson, Tanaka hit a high pop to short left. Beck lost the ball in the night sky, allowing the runner to score and make it 8-1.
Innings 7-9
The Mavericks threatened again in the eighth. Zipay singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Gaines walked with two outs, Trout flew out to center to end the inning.
ORU stretched the lead off reliever
Gavin Brummund in the bottom of the eighth. Four straight Golden Eagles singled with one out, Combs and Kane-Yates delivering RBIs to make it 10-1.

- Zipay has been dialed in the last three Summit League games. This was his third straight two-hit game, making him 6 for his last 12 at bats, lifting his season average to .368.
- Bishop's first inning single extended his hitting streak to six games (10-21, .476) and Trout's RBI single in the same inning extended his to five games (7-20, .350).
