• In a back-and-forth game that saw 23 lead changes and 21 tied scores, it was Omaha who came ahead at the literal last second vs. North Dakota on Thursday when
JJ White nailed a buzzer beater three to win it 80-77.
• Omaha is now 9-1 in Summit League play for the first time in program history, slightly edging out the 2018-19 team who started off 8-2 through the first 10 games. With St. Thomas losing to South Dakota State on Thursday, the Mavericks are now in sole possession of first place in the conference.
• What proved to be a major difference maker for the Mavericks was limiting turnovers to seven while the Fighting Hawks gave it up 11 times. This led to 15 points off turnovers for Omaha, while UND only had four.
• White led the team with 24 points on Thursday, 12 of which came in the final three minutes. In the process he reached a new single-season high in score with 324 points. White also had eight assists to bring him to 305 in his career. With six regular season games to go, plus the Summit League Tournament, JJ has a chance to become the second Maverick this year to join the 1000-Point Club as he comes into Saturday with exactly 900 career points.

Marquel Sutton, the first Maverick this year to reach 1000 points, moved up another spot on the all-time scoring list as his 18 points vs. UND brought him to 1167 in his career, good for 21st place. He is also had eight boards to bring him to 551 in his career and 16th place. Furthermore, with 20 double-digit scoring games on the season, Sutton now has 59 in his career.
• White and Sutton both rank highly on several Summit League leaderboards, with the former ranking second in assists (82) and assist/turnover ratio (1.8), while the latter places second in points (441) and rebounds (188). In conference play, the duo ranks fourth (196) and third (200) in points.
• Omaha's offense remains elite in the conference as the Mavericks' 84.2 ppg in league play ranks second behind only South Dakota with 85.3. The team's 8.6 ppg scoring margin is also second behind just South Dakota State at 10.4.
• Sutton earned his first career Summit League Preseason honor after being named Second Team All-Preseason in October. In 2023-24, he was second on the team with 12.3 PPG (406 total) and led all Mavericks with 6.3 RPG (208 total boards).

Joshua Streit (NDSU), and
Isaac Ondekane (Lindenwood) headline the Mavericks' top transfers this year with the trio coming to Omaha with a combined six seasons of Division I basketball under their belts. Also new this year are top JUCO transfers
Kamryn Thomas (2024 NJCAA Third Team All-American),
Khamani Cooper (465 points as a freshman in 2024), and
Valentino Simon (965 career points from 2022-24).

Chris Crutchfield has a 49-60 career record. This season marks his fourth year as a head coach and third with the Mavericks.
Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
After losing back-to-back games against SDSU (72-62) and St. Thomas (79-62), the Bison got back in the win column on Thursday when they beat Kansas City 78-72 to improve to 6-4 in conference play and 17-8 overall to stand fast at fourth place in the standings.
Two-time conference player of the week Jacksen Moni sits atop the Summit League in scoring with 20.0 ppg while slotting in at third in total points with 439. The Division II transfer remains one of the most accurate shooters in the league, owning the second highest qualified FG% at .512 and the fifth best FT% at .847. He is also second in the Summit in assists with 79. On top of this he is one of four Bison in the league's top 20 in rebounding with 118 boards and 6.2 rpg.
Senior guard Jacari White is one of the leagues top scorers too, ranking seventh in ppg (15.7) and fifth in points (393) thanks to a league-leading 67 three-pointers. He is one of the four Bison in the top 20 in rebounding with 108 rebounds and 4.3 rpg. Noah Feddersen leads that group with 154 boards and 6.2 rpg, both of which rank fifth overall.
Now in his 11th year leading the Bison and 22nd with the program, Head Coach David Richman is one of the most accomplished coaches in the Summit League with three conference titles and NCAA Tournament berths, including a win over North Carolina central in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
All-Time Against North Dakota State
The Mavericks took the first game against the Bison this year 85-80 in Fargo to move to 33-54 in the all-time series and 7-20 in the Division I era. Against his former team, Waddles had his best game of the season, leading Omaha with 24 points after making five straight threes in under three minutes in the second half to put the Mavericks in front. Sutton also had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. As for the Bison, Jacksen Moni (23 points) and Masen Miller (20 points) both topped 20 points, while Tajavis Miller (14 points, 10 rebounds) had a double-double.
