Waddles named Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week

The Shreveport, La. native posted back-to-back 25-point outings.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dec. 23, 2025) - Omaha Men's Basketball senior guard Lance Waddles (Shreveport, La.) has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Waddles is the first Maverick to earn a weekly award this season.

Leading the Mavericks to a pair of victories this past week, Waddles posted a pair of 25-point outings against York (Neb.) and Lamar, shooting 67.9% from the field in the process (19-28). His seven made triples against York (Neb.) were the most in a game by a Maverick this season and a new career-high for the Shreveport, La. native. In Omaha's thrilling overtime victory at Lamar on Dec. 20, Waddles shot 10-for-13 (76.9%) from the field –– also a career best in made field goals.

Waddles and fellow senior Tony Osburn are the only active Mavericks with two or more games of 25-plus points in a single season.

In just shy of 64 minutes of action, Waddles also averaged 6.5 rebounds a night, all off the defensive glass. He contributed a pair of assists and five steals as the Mavericks stretched the current win streak to four.

Waddles, the top 3-point shooter in the country with 52 made triples, has logged two double-doubles this season, the second most in the Summit League. On the season, Waddles paces the Mavs with 252 points (avg. 18.0 p.p.g.), 92 made field goals (51.4% FG), 52 threes, 79 rebounds, 18 steals and 455 minutes played (avg. 32.5 m.p.g.).

Through Omaha's first 14 games (7-7), Waddles sits third in the Summit in scoring, third in field goal percentage and seventh in rebounding. Beyond the arc, Waddles is first in made threes per game (3.7) and 3-point field goal percentage (47.3%). Nationally, he ranks in the top 30 in seven statistical categories including: total 3-pointers made (first), 3-pointers per game (ninth), 3-point tries (ninth), field goals made (13th), 3-point percentage (21st), points (22nd) and field goal attempts (26th).

Last week, it was announced that Waddles was named to the early season watch list for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award, presented annually to the top mid-major men's basketball player.

Waddles and the Mavericks face Oregon on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network and 1290 KOIL in Omaha in the final non-conference game of the season.
