Ja'Sean Glover is looking forward to what he anticipates will be "a beautiful experience" on Saturday night at Baxter Arena.

Prior to men's basketball's home opener against Southern Utah, a banner ceremony will take place celebrating last year's historic season.

The 2024–25 season was a season of firsts. For the first time, the Mavericks won the Summit League regular-season title, the league tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Championship.

"It will be great to see the banner drop for all the hard work we put into the season," Glover said. "For me personally, this will be a beautiful experience. I've never won to this degree ever in my life from high school to college."

The senior guard has seen the program's turnaround under head coach Chris Crutchfield from the beginning.

During Glover's first season at Omaha, the Mavs won nine games. That total improved to 14 the next year and then 22 last season.

Glover and fellow guard Tony Osburn are the only two Mavs who have been around all four years of Crutchfield's tenure.

"It's been a grind, but we enjoyed the fruits from that hard work," Glover said.

Three banners will be raised to the rafters during Saturday's ceremony to recognize each accomplishment.

Omaha was picked to finish eighth in last year's Summit preseason poll, but guard Lance Waddles said that just helped motivate the team.

"It was something we knew we could do last year — called ourselves the Banner Boys," Waddles said. "(The ceremony) will be really cool, then try to get a win after that."

Most of last year's roster is back this season. Among last year's seniors expected to be in Baxter on Saturday are JJ White and Josh Streit.

"It will be really cool seeing all those guys," said Waddles, who was Streit's roommate last season.

The Mavs are looking for their first win after losing three games away from Omaha. Two of those losses have been by single digits.

"We're real close to being a really good team," Waddles said. "I think we've learned a lot so far — just the way we want to play, things we need to clean up."

Glover said the focus will be on the game once the ball is tipped off, but he'll appreciate the ceremony that will go on beforehand.

"Just thinking about it now, it makes me grateful for coming out and competing at a high level," Glover said earlier this week. "It will be a great experience for me and my teammates."
