• The Mavericks handed St. Thomas their first conference loss of the year and leapfrogged them in the standings on Thursday to take possession of first place in the Summit League after topping them 89-78 in front of the largest crowd of the season at Baxter Arena (3234).
• With eight-straight wins, Omaha has matched its longest winning streak since 2008. The team's 6-0 record in the Summit League is also the program's best to open conference play since winning 12 in a row back in 1983-84.
• For the third time this year and second game in a row, five Mavericks scored in double figures last night:
Marquel Sutton (24),
JJ White (15),
Ja'Sean Glover (14),
Kamryn Thomas (14), and
Tony Osburn (11). Led by this quintet, Omaha shot 53.6% as a team, giving them six games this year with an FG% above 50.
• Sutton has climbed to 31st on the all-time scoring list with 1077 career points and is just three away from 30th. He also had nine rebounds vs. St. Thomas to tie him for 21st all-time with 518. Thursday also marked the 10th time this year and 15th time in his career that Sutton scored at least 20 points in a game. On top of this, Sutton also topped 200 career free throws after making 11.
• White also reached a career milestone as he now has 40 career double-digit scoring games.
• Thomas, in his first season at the Division I level, is closing in on 100 rebounds as he ended Thursday's game with 88.
• With a 38 to 26 advantage in rebounding vs. St. Thomas, this +12 margin is Omaha's best since January 3, 2024 when it had a +17 margin (39 to 25) vs. Northern Arizona.
• Omaha scoring margin through six conference games is the best in the Summit League at +11.7 (85.5 ppg vs. 73.8 ppg allowed).
• Sutton earned his first career Summit League Preseason honor after being named Second Team All-Preseason in October. In 2023-24, he was second on the team with 12.3 PPG (406 total) and led all Mavericks with 6.3 RPG (208 total boards).

Joshua Streit (NDSU), and
Isaac Ondekane (Lindenwood) headline the Mavericks' top transfers this year with the trio coming to Omaha with a combined six seasons of Division I basketball under their belts. Also new this year are top JUCO transfers
Kamryn Thomas (2024 NJCAA Third Team All-American),
Khamani Cooper (465 points as a freshman in 2024), and
Valentino Simon (965 career points from 2022-24).

• Head Coach
Chris Crutchfield has a 46-59 career record. This season marks his fourth year as a head coach and third with the Mavericks.
Scouting the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Currently at 5-14 with a 1-5 conference record, ORU sits in eighth place in the Summit League, along with having the eighth ranked scoring margin at -3.5 (75.2 ppg, 78.7 ppg allowed).
Graduate student guard and two-time Second Team All-Summit selection Issac McBride once again leads the way for the Golden Eagles as one of the top all-around players in the league. His 18.4 ppg and 350 points both rank in the top five in the Summit, while his .430 FG%, .848 FT%, and .421 3-PT FG% are all top 10 as well. In addition to this, he ranks 10th in assists with 52, and 13th in steals with 19. McBride has eight games with 20+ points this year, including a 44-point performance vs. North Dakota State which was the second most points scored by a Division I player this year.
Also having a strong season is rookie guard Jojo Moore who ranks second on the team in scoring with 186 points (10.9 ppg) and has the top FG% on the team at .545 (min. 100 attempts). He also leads the team and is in the top 15 in the league in rebounding with 678 boards (4.6 rpg).
Second-year head coach Russell Springmann has been with ORU since the 2018-19 season as an assistant and helped the Golden Eagles reach the Sweet 16 back in the 2020-21 season. Prior to ORU, Springmann spent a season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and 14 with Texas, where he helped lead the Longhorns to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances. In his first year leading ORU he went 12-19.
All-Time Against Oral Roberts
Omaha moved to 5-18 against ORU all-time last year, going 1-1 on the season and winning for the first time since January 4, 2020. The Mavericks lost the initial meeting last season 74-67, before pulling off a late comeback in the home finale 71-70. Sutton had 36 points and 13 rebounds, while Issac McBride paced the Golden Eagles 36 points as well.
