Helper Helper uses an impact score, which is calculated based on the percentage of members who have volunteered and how many hours per member have been volunteered by that team compared to other teams.
In the department's first year of using the program (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023) Omaha logged 1,280 hours. Year two yielded an increase of almost 2,000 hours or over a 250% increase.
Five programs landed on the top 10 lists: Cross Country/Track & Field, Women's Tennis, Men's Soccer and Hockey.
Coming in at number 10 and for the second year in a row, Omaha Track and Field/Cross Country has been recognized on the top 10 list. The two teams accumulated a total of 505 hours which was led by Emily Treptow, the Bob Kruger Commitment Award winner, with close to 100 hours by herself.
Clocking in at number seven, Omaha Men's Soccer volunteered a total of 347 hours, an average of 11 hours per student-athlete. Although they received a lower ranking this year, the team did about 150 more hours than last year. It's the second season in a row landing on the Helper Helper top 10 list.
A first timer on the top 10 list coming in at number six, Omaha Women's Tennis volunteered for 303 hours and averaged 30 hours per student-athlete.
Lastly coming in at the four spot, Omaha Hockey volunteered for 138 hours, an average of 5 hours per student-athlete.
The Helper Helper platform was created by a former student-athlete to make it easier for athletic departments to help students get out in the community. Over the years, hundreds of student-athlete development professionals have shaped the platform that exists today. It's proved to enhance the student-athlete experience and take student-athlete development to the next level. With Helper Helper you can spend less time tracking your service efforts and more time nurturing the next generation of leaders.
