The Mavericks (16-28-1, (14-12-1) close out their regular season this week when the play their third and final game at Creighton (32-16) on Tuesday, before facing off with South Dakota State (19-17, 10-15) for three games starting on Thursday to finish off the season.

Around the Horn
- Currently sitting in third place behind St. Thomas (20-23, 14-9) and North Dakota (18-26-1, 13-10-1), Omaha still has a chance to win the Regular Season Title and enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed. Since St. Thomas is not eligible for postseason play, Omaha could still finish in second behind them and enter the Summit League Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
- The Mavericks went 1-2 in their home finale last week against St. Thomas. Their only win came via a 10-6 victory on Saturday in which Harrison Kreiling and Joe Hackmann combined to strike out 15 Tommies in nine innings. This was Kreiling's first double-digit strikeout game of the season and the third of his career.
- With eight more strikeouts on Friday, Caleb Riedel is now just five strikeouts away from becoming the third Maverick in the D1 era to reach 200 strikeouts.
- Cardel Dick drove in six of Omaha's 17 runs last week, scoring three apiece on Saturday and Sunday. He plated three on Saturday with his first career triple and also recorded his third home run of the season on Sunday.
- The Mavericks had six extra-base hits on Saturday (two home runs, one triple, three doubles). This is tied for their second most in a game this season.
- With two more steals last week, Matt Goetzmann stole his 20th career base, making him the only active Maverick to reach this mark.
- A week after hitting his first home run of the season, Henry Zipay hit a no-doubter over the wall in right on Saturday for his second of the season and the third of his career.
- Luke Gainer had his fourth-straight scoreless outing on Sunday. He has now gone nine consecutive innings without allowing a run.
- Making his first start since April 12, Haiden Hunt went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI on Sunday as he got Omaha on the board in the second with his first triple of the season.
- With one week to go, three Mavericks are hitting above .300 and with an OPS above .800: Drew Lechnir (.309, .841), Goetzmann (.303, .896), and Tyler Bishop (.301, .894).
Scouting Creighton
Entering their final week of the season, Creighton currently sits at 32-16 with a 5-12 record in the Big East. The Bluejays have gone 3-7 over their last 10, though, they are coming off a 14-9 win at Connecticut on Sunday.
Nolan Sailors is Creighton's top offensive weapon as he currently leads the team in AVG (.364), OPS (1.061), RBIs (55), runs (51), and steals (16). Not far behind him are Nolan Clifford, who boasts a .343 AVG and .954 OPS, and Teddy Deters, who leads the team with nine home runs and four triples.
Seven different pitchers have made at least three starts for Creighton this year, with Dominic Cancellie (2.83 ERA), Jack Pineau (4.05), and Eli Nissen (4.25) being the top performers through 19 combined starts. Shane Curtin (3.19 ERA) and Mason Kock (3.57) head up the bullpen with eight of the team's 10 saves.
Head Coach Ed Servais is the winningest coach in Creighton baseball history at 675-403-1 while his career record of 857-485-2 is 21st among all Division I coaches. In 21 years with Creighton, he has led them to six NCAA Tournaments.
Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State is 3-7 in its last 10 games, though, that includes a 10-6 win at Nebraska on May 8 and an 8-5 upset over NDSU on Sunday.
Cael Frost remains arguably the league's top hitter as he paces all players in in OPS (1.201), SLG (.758), runs (50), doubles (15), and home runs (20). Dawson Perry has also put up impressive numbers as he leads the league with 58 RBIs and has clubbed 14 home runs and 13 doubles, all while posting a 1.035 OPS in the process.
Nic McCay leads SDSU's pitching staff as its only member with an ERA below 5.75 at 3.51. He has also struck out 89 batters and owns a.224 BAA. Despite a 6.85 ERA, reliever Alex Clemons owns the lowest BAA on the team at .146 through 23.2 innings.
Rob Bishop is now in his eighth season with the Jackrabbits and 14th overall as a head coach. Not including the shortened 2020 season, He has lead SDSU to the Summit League Tournament in every season since taking over in 2017.
