No. 18 Mavericks Come from Behind to Sweep RedHawks

The No. 18 Omaha Mavericks came from behind tonight to defeat the Miami RedHawks 2-1 and secure a weekend sweep.

After a scoreless first period that saw the Mavericks outshoot the RedHawks 12-4, Miami struck first early in the second period. 2:12 into the second frame, Artur Turansky tipped a shot from the point out front of the Omaha cage to take a 1-0 lead.

5:06 later, sophomore blueliner Griffin Ludtke blasted home the equalizer on a 5-on-3 power play. He was assisted by Matt Miller and his younger brother Tanner. With 5:55 left in the second period, Jack Randl netted the Mavericks second power play goal of the night on the doorstep of the Miami crease, burying a Matt Miller pass from behind the net.

Miami would push hard in the 3rd period but the Mavericks battened down the hatches and kept everything in front of them to come away with all six NCHC points this weekend.

Omaha will wrap up the regular season at home next weekend against North Dakota. Puck drop slated for 7:07 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night.
