No. 12 Mavericks Defeat No. 10 Tigers to Advance to Program's First NCHC Frozen Faceoff

The No. 12 Omaha Mavericks came from behind tonight to defeat the No. 10 Colorado College Tigers 2-1 and secure the program's first ever trip to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff.

For the first time in the series, CC scored the first goal, and the Mavericks would have to play from behind. Taking a 1-0 lead over the Mavericks at 15:34 of the first period, Omaha would battle the Tigers back-and-forth until the 17:20 mark of the second period. Jimmy Glynn buried for the second night in a row in a huge spot. Glynn took a pass from Jesse Lansdell at the bottom of the right circle and lit the lamp the exact same way as last night. A backhand five-hole shot.

Tied after 40 minutes, Brock Bremer scored the biggest goal of his career with 13:21 left in regulation. Bremer received a perfect cross-ice pass from Griffin Ludtke, walked into the slot and fired home the game winner by All-NCHC First Teamer, Kaiden Mbereko.

For the remainder of the game, Omaha did a fantastic job of keeping shots to the perimeter, clearing the net front, and making sure to get pucks deep.

The Mavericks will take on top seeded North Dakota next Friday night in the opening game of the Frozen Faceoff. Puck drop is still To be Determined.

NOTES
Sophomore netminder Simon Latkoczy saved 126 shots in three games this weekend. He allowed just two even strength goals and one of them came with an extra attacker on the ice on Friday night. In total, he allowed just one 5-on-5 tally between all three games.
Notching their 22nd win of the campaign tonight, the Mavericks secured their second winningest year in program history. It's second only to Mike Kemp's 2000-01 team who win 24.
In one goal decisions, Omaha improved to 16-2 after this evening.
For the second game in a row, Brock Bremer tallied a multi-point game. It's his fourth of the season.
