West Lafayette, Ind.- The Omaha Mavericks shutout Power 5 opponent Purdue 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Mavericks had another day of lockdown defense that boosted them to their ninth consecutive win.
The Mavericks improve to a 20-7 overall record on the campaign. Omaha has now shutout opponents in nine games this season, including five in the last six games.

How It Happened

Sydney Nuismer had a hot start with two back-to-back strikeouts for a quick three-up three-down in the bottom of the first.
- In the bottom of the second, Purdue loaded the bases with just one out.
Sydney Thomason snagged a line drive to third, making the out at home. With bases still loaded and two down, Nuismer threw a huge strikeout to end the inning and keep Purdue scoreless.
- In the top of the fourth,
Sydney Thomason hit a deep home run to left center to put Omaha up 1-0.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Purdue chopped a ball up the third baseline. Thomason looked like she was going to make the throw to first so the runner at third started to advance home. Thomason started a run down and Nuismer tagged the runner out at third.
- With two outs in the top of the seventh,
Jaelle Johnson singled up the middle sending
Sydney Ross home from second to make it 2-0.
Game Notes
- Nuismer pitched the complete seven innings, picking up her third shutout and seventh win. Nuismer threw four strikeouts and only allowed six hits.

Jaelle Johnson had her first start of the season and went 2-for-2 at-bat. Johnson recorded one RBI and a team-high nine putouts.
- Thomason recorded her sixth home run of the season.
