Mavericks Shutout Purdue to Extend Win Streak to Nine

West Lafayette, Ind.- The Omaha Mavericks shutout Power 5 opponent Purdue 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Mavericks had another day of lockdown defense that boosted them to their ninth consecutive win.

The Mavericks improve to a 20-7 overall record on the campaign. Omaha has now shutout opponents in nine games this season, including five in the last six games.

Game One: Omaha 2, Purdue 0
How It Happened

    - Sydney Nuismer had a hot start with two back-to-back strikeouts for a quick three-up three-down in the bottom of the first.
    - In the bottom of the second, Purdue loaded the bases with just one out. Sydney Thomason snagged a line drive to third, making the out at home. With bases still loaded and two down, Nuismer threw a huge strikeout to end the inning and keep Purdue scoreless.
    - In the top of the fourth, Sydney Thomason hit a deep home run to left center to put Omaha up 1-0.
    - In the bottom of the sixth, Purdue chopped a ball up the third baseline. Thomason looked like she was going to make the throw to first so the runner at third started to advance home. Thomason started a run down and Nuismer tagged the runner out at third.
    - With two outs in the top of the seventh, Jaelle Johnson singled up the middle sending Sydney Ross home from second to make it 2-0.
