Mavericks Secure Sweep of Bulldogs with 4-3 win

The No. 20/19 Mavericks completed a sweep of the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs with a 4-3 win Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 7,802.

The persistent and opportunistic Maverick offense maintained the lead for much of the night. Kirby Proctor put Omaha ahead just 17 seconds into the contest with his fifth goal of the season. The Bulldogs found the equalizer at the 14:38 mark of the first period, but two minutes later Zach Urdahl took back the lead for good with his seventh goal of the season — and second of the weekend.
Tyler Rollwagen tipped home a Nolan Krenzen shot in the second period to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Bulldogs pulled within one early in the third and again in the final minute, but an empty net goal from Jesse Lansdell sealed the victory for the Mavericks.

After passing the 1,000 save threshold in Friday's contest, Simon Latkoczy weathered a barrage of shots early in the contest. In all, he made 36 saves in his 11th win of the season.
The Mavericks wrap up their season series with Western Michigan in Kalamazoo next weekend.
Notes The Mavericks are now 8-1-1 when leading after two periods, and 11-7 when scoring first. Omaha improves to 11-1-0 in one goal games with tonight's 4-3 victory With goals in each game, Zach Urdahl notched his first multi-goal series and second multi-point series of the season.
Tonight's attendance of 7,802 marks Omaha's third sellout of the season.
