ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Mavericks could not complete the season sweep of St. Thomas as they concluded the regular season with an 88-61 loss in St. Paul on Thursday.
Omaha concludes its regular season with a 14-17 overall record and a 7-9 record in the Summit League. Both win totals are the team's highest since the 2019-20 season. As for the Tommies, they remain ahead of Omaha in the standings with one game left to play with an 18-11 record and an 8-7 conference mark.
Based on how things shake out on Saturday, the Mavericks can finish either sixth or seventh in the standings.

Jaeden Marshall (13),
JJ White (13),
Marquel Sutton (12), and
Frankie Fidler (10) all scored in double figures tonight, with Marshall also leading in rebounds with six and White matching his season high with seven assists.
Leaders for St. Thomas
Kendall Blue earned a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Three other Tommies scored in double figures, including Raheem Anthony who led the team with 15 points and three steals, and Parker Bjorklund who scored 14 and had a team-high eight rebounds.
Team Stats
Omaha was outshot in every category, trailing in FG% (50.8% to 39.0%), 3-PT FG% (50.0% to 23.8%), and FT% (81.0% to 76.9%). The Mavericks only trailed by four though in points in the paint (38 to 34) and six in rebounds (38 to 32).
Inside the First Half
The Mavericks got off to a slow start tonight, being held scoreless through the first four and a half minutes until a jumper from Fidler got Omaha on the board, making it 12-2. A minute later, an and-one from
Nick Davis made it 12-5. After scoring 12 points in the first four minutes, the Tommies soon found themselves with scoring troubles of their own, being held to just seven more points by the 10-minute mark as Davis led the Mavericks with a trio of defensive boards.
Momentum shifted back in St. Thomas' favor over the final 10 minutes of the half as they outscored Omaha 28-12 to take a 45-20 lead into halftime. All of the Mavericks' points came from Fidler and Sutton, with the latter making the first three-pointer of the night for Omaha with just over 2 minutes to play.
Inside the Second Half
Omaha got off to a much better start offensively in the second, opening with back-to-back layups from Marshall and Fidler a minute in. Later on, both Fidler and Sutton would break into double figures on the night, while
Grant Stubblefield made the team's first three in the half at 12:21. Marshall and White would both drain one from behind the arc over the final minutes, but in the end the Mavericks could not slow down the Tommies as they fell behind by 30 with 10 minutes to play and were unable to recover.
Game Notes
- Fidler became the fourth Maverick in history and the first since 1973 to top 600 points in a single season with his first bucket of the second half.
- Marshall now has 10 games with double-digit points this season.
