OMAHA, Neb. – Sophomore
Charlie Lurie was named KJ Branding NCHC Forward of the Week for Dec. 9-15. It was announced by the conference on Monday.
The Minnetonka, Minn., native tied for the NCHC lead in points this weekend with three (1G-2A) in two games against Lindenwood.
The 6-foot, 187-pound forward scored his third goal of the season in Friday night's 2-3 loss to the Lions. Lurie played a central role in Saturday night's 2-1 victory, where he recorded two assists on both Omaha goals to help push his team to its last regular season before 2025.
Omaha has won four weekly NCHC awards this season. Lurie is the first Maverick to be named NCHC Forward of the Week in 2024-25 and the first since
Ty Mueller was honored for Jan. 9-14 during the 2023-24 campaign.
This marks Lurie's first career NCHC weekly honor.
The Mavericks will return to the Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena on Sunday, Dec. 29, for an exhibition contest against Manitoba. The regular season continues after the new year when the Mavericks compete in the 2025 Cactus Cup on Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4, in Palm Springs, Calif.
