HOMER, Neb. - Omaha men's golf finished third of 12 teams Wednesday as the Mavericks completed play in the Throw Down Up Top, hosted by South Dakota.
Luke Strako finished tied for second overall and
Thunder Suwannapratheep finished tied for fourth over the three-day, three round event.
Strako shot four-under, including a three-under-par round to close-out the event. He finished the week with 13 birdies.
Suwannapratheep eagled the par-5 sixth hole in the opening round and the par-5 18th in the final round to finish the week three-under, carding rounds of 74, 75 and 67.
The team finished one stroke over par but had a resilient final day on the links with the counted scores tallying five-under. Omaha shot 293, 297 and 287 as a team.
Omaha's 59 birdies were the third most in the tournament and the team shined on par-5 holes shooting 14-under behind North Dakota State (-17) and Loyola Chiago (-15).
Omaha men's golf concludes the fall slate with the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate Powells Point, N.C. beginning on Sunday, Oct. 20.
