OMAHA, Neb. – Four Omaha student-athletes were named the Summit League's "Peak Swimmers & Divers of the Week," it was announced Monday. Junior
Stefan Varga won "Men's Swimmer of the Week," freshman
Owen Kipp won Men's Diver of the Week, senior
Payton Easley won "Women's Swimmer of the Week" and junior
Bella Price won "Women's Diver of the Week."
In 2023-24, Omaha swept the Summit League's weekly honors twice. The four awards during week four this season mark the first sweep for Omaha in 2024-25.
This week's award is the second for Varga, as he also won in the first week of the 2024-25 season. Against Augustana on Saturday, Varga's win in the men's 100 backstroke (49.62) became the fastest time in the Summit League. Varga also won the men's 200 backstroke, recording the conference's third-best time (1:51.30) and led Omaha to a first-place finish in the men's 200 medley relay with an individual time of 22.98 and team time of 1:31.10.
Kipp earned his first-ever Summit League honors after winning both of his events against the Vikings this past weekend. Scoring a 302.25 in the men's 1M dive and a 297.68 in the men's 3M dive.
Easley won her first weekly award this season after setting conference two high times against Augustana in the 50 freestyle (23.54) and 100 freestyle (50.91) winning both events. Also, a part of two relays, Easley served as the final leg for Omaha in its women's 200 freestyle relay with an individual time of 23.05 and a team time of 1:35.98. Easley also served as the last leg of the second-place finish women's 200 medley relay for the Mavericks.
Price took first place in both diving events that she participated in last weekend, winning the women's 1M diving event (245.03) and the women's 3M diving event (247.05).
Omaha will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 when it matches up with Missouri State in Springfield, MO.
