- The Mavericks moved into a tie for second place in the Summit League after their 79-61 home victory over North Dakota. The win brings Omaha to 9-9 on the season and 2-1 in the conference, as well as 7-1 in home games.
- Omaha continues to outshoot its opponents across the board, topping the Fighting Hawks FG% (49.% to 35.2%), 3-PT FG% (31.3% to 29.6%), and FT% (85.7% to 65.2%).
- Frankie Fidler turned in another historic performance on Thursday as he tied the program's all-time single-game record for single game free throws made with 18. He went 18-for-20 from the stripe to increase his FT% to .874. All told, Fidler totaled 29 points in the game, bringing his season total to 326 and his career total to 1164 and tying him for 20th on Omaha's all-time leaderboard.
- Jamal Ambrose and Ja'Sean Glover both set new season highs in points vs. UND, with Ambrose scoring five thanks to his second career three-pointer and Glover scoring nine by going 4-for-5 from the field.
- Marquel Sutton enters this game with exactly 200 points on the season, joining Fidler on Thursday as the first two Mavericks to reach the milestone this year.
- Nick Davis had another strong day on defense as Omaha's leading blocker logged three more in against UND, giving him two games now this year with three blocks.
- Grant Stubblefield, Marcel Bryant, Nick Davis, and Biko Johnson are Omaha's top newcomers coming into this season.
- Stubblefield was named 6A Player of the Year and First Team All-State while at Blue Valley Northwest and Bryant was named the Austin Area Player of the Year at Cedar Ridge. Johnson is coming off his second season at Western Nebraska CC where he was named All-Conference and All-Nebraska, while Davis is fresh off winning GAC Defensive Player of the Year and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the Division II NCAA Tournament with Southern Nazarene.
- Fidler was Omaha's lone All-Summit honoree last season, earning an Honorable Mention. He led Omaha in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), steals (1.2 spg), and free throw percentage (.887), with his FT% in particular ranking in the NCAA's top-25 for most of the season.
- Head Coach Chris Crutchfield has a 28-41 career record. It marks his third season as a head coach and second with the Mavericks.
Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
Sitting at 7-4 halfway through December, the Bison are now 8-9 on Thursday with a narrow 92-91 win at Kansas City in double overtime to move to 1-1 in conference play.
Senior guard Boden Skunberg is NDSU's top all-around player as he leads the Bison with 229 points and 14.3 ppg, as well as 82 rebounds and 5.1 rpg. His .769 FT% is second on the team behind fellow guard and 200-point scorer Damari Wheeler Thomas (.840). NDSU's most accurate overall shooters are junior forward Andrew Morgan, who boasts a .545 FG%, and sophomore guard Tajavis Miller, who owns a .473 3-PT FG%.
Now in his 10th year leading the Bison and 21st with the program, Head Coach David Richman is one of the most accomplished coaches in the Summit League with three conference titles and NCAA Tournament berths, including a win over North Carolina central in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
All-Time Against North Dakota State
Omaha is 31-53 all-time against NDSU and 5-19 in the Division I era. The Mavericks are currently in a nine-game losing streak against the Bison, with their last win coming on February 3, 2019. Last year, Omaha lost the first game 78-65 and the second by 84-58.
