Omaha, Neb. -- The Omaha Mavericks had a record breaking 7-0 win over the Chicago State Cougars on Saturday afternoon. A total 12 Mavericks recorded at least one point in today's match and the team recorded its first shutout of the season.
The Mavericks improve to 2-3-0 overall record on the season.
How It Happened
• The Mavericks started the game off strong with the team's first save of the game from
Lute Lillo Portero in the 22' minute.

Junior Casillas recorded the first goal of the game in the 26' minute. Matin Lago made an arching pass over the defenseman to
Gonzalo Cuevas in the box, who then passed it over to Casillas who was waiting in the middle of the box.
• After three attempts at a corner kick,
Ede Gramberg recorded the Mavericks' second goal in the 32' minute. With assists from Casillas and
Luke Smith that lead him into the box, Gramberg fired a shot to the upper 90.
• Only a minute and half later, the next play in the books was a goal by Casillas in the 33' minute. His goal in the lower right corner was assisted by
Abdi Adan and
Naz Astwood who got the ball from the defensive zone to the offensive zone in one kick.
• Lillo Portero made his second save in the 35' minute to keep the score 3-0.
• In the 36' minute, Gramberg found the goalie outside the box and fired a rocket in the empty net. His goal was assisted by Adan and
Brett Perkins.
• To polish off the half, Casillas found the lower left corner of the net for the team's fifth goal of the match. His third goal of the match was assisted by
Brayden Kramer and Adan.
• The Mavericks finished the first half up by five goals, which were all scored in a matter of 13 minutes.

Nathanael Sallah started in net for the second half of the match.
• After some off-target shots,
Luke Smith scored the sixth goal of the game in the 66' minute, with an assist from
Wawa Palga.
• Sallah made a big save in the 69' minute to continue the 6-0 lead and keep the momentum rolling.
• To close out the match, Calvin Berteau carried the ball through the offensive zone, passing it off to
Theo Klein. Klein made a one-time pass across the box to Adan, where he scored the seventh and final goal of the match.
• Sallah made one last save with 40 seconds left on the clock to secured the 7-0 shutout win for Omaha.
Inside the Box
• The Mavericks out-shot the Cougars 20-8 and led shots on goal 15-4.
• The Mavericks took 14 corner kicks and kept the Cougars to just three.

Junior Casillas recorded a three goals and one assist for a seven point game. He's the first Maverick since Elvir Ibisevic in 2017 to score a hat trick.
• Casillas, Smith, and Adan all recorded their first goals of the season.
• The seven Mavericks to record their first assists of the season include: Perkins, Klein, Gramberg, Cuevas, Smith, Astwood, Casillas, Berteau and Adan.
• Lago extends his point streak to three games.
• Adan led the team with four shots.
• Pilon St.-Louis, Casillas, and Adan were tied for team leader with shots goal.
• Sallah record his first saves of the year.
• Lillo Portero improves to a 2-3-0 record and check off his first shutout of the season.
